Without asking, Jazmin practically threw Genesis in Jah’s arms. “Can you take her so I can get ready? She still feeding on this bottle. When she get done, wipe her down again and put that outfit that’s laying on my bed on her. Please?”
Jazmin didn’t give Jah time to object as she took off for her bedroom. It was time for Genesis’ doctor appointment and she was running late.
While in the shower, Jazmin was relieved and somewhat happy to discover that her milk had dried up in her breast. There was no more leakage. She probably should have breastfed Genesis but Jazmin didn’t trust herself to always eat right. Besides, Jazmin loved to drink.
“Juicy?”
Was he in her bathroom? “Who told you to come in here?”
“She don’t want this damn milk,” he said.
“Well go ahead and clean her off,” she yelled.
Her shower door opened and she screamed as she tried to cover herself. “Shut the damn door, Jah!”
Wearing a mischievous grin and getting an eyeful, Jah asked, “But you got two outfits on yo’ bed. Which one?”
“Get out, Jah!”
“Which one though?”
“Close the damn door and get out!” she screamed again.
He closed the door only to open it again. “You look good wet.”
“Get out!” She could hear him laughing. She shook her head not believing he did that. He got on her nerves! But that was okay. She’d have to get him one day.
When she got out of the shower, she was careful and had to make sure the coast was clear. She didn’t want Jah lurking around.
Jazmin quickly got dressed and took care of her grooming. She joined Jah and Genesis downstairs. She was impressed that he had Genesis all ready to go. She was even in her car seat waiting.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Yep,” she said.
Jah looked her up and down. He grinned, “You look better naked.”
“Whatever Jah. Let’s go,” she murmured leading the way out.
On the way to the doctor’s office, Jazmin sat back and relaxed while Jah drove. She was a little angry about Sean’s behavior and his lack of support. She had hit him up after she and Jah came back from his aunt’s the night before. He didn’t even respond until that morning. Maybe it was time that she stopped expecting anything from him.
After directing Jah through traffic, they arrived at the medical plaza. Without asking him to, Jah handled both the diaper bag and Genesis. He wasn’t saying much; just following Jazmin.
In the actual office, he tended to Genesis while Jazmin filled out all the necessary paperwork.
“Ah! How old is she?” a woman asked sitting a few seats down from Jah.
“Two weeks,” Jah answered.
“Is this y’all first baby?” she asked.
Jazmin looked up from the paperwork and smiled, “Yes ma’am.”
“She look just like her daddy too,” the woman said. “She’s so pretty. I can tell Daddy gonna protect her just by how he guarding over her now. I see ya Daddy.”
Jazmin side eyed a laughing Jah. She didn’t know why he thought that was funny, but he got a kick out of it every time someone made that statement.
